Do I have to have a lawyer to go to court?

You do not have to have a lawyer to go to court. Every person has a constitutional right to represent themselves in a criminal case in Florida. However, in most every case in Florida if you’re accused of a crime, you would be well served to have an attorney who practices in the area to represent you regardless of the severity of the charges.
